Technology today
Jenny has not returned my calls in roughly a year. She has, however, sent me a poinsettia, poked me and placed a gift beneath my Christmas tree. She has done all these ____, courtesy of Facebook, the social-networking ____ on which users create profiles, gather "friends" and join common-interest groups. Although Jenny has three children and rarely finds time for visits, phone calls or even e-mail, the full-time mother in upstate New York ____ updates her status on Facebook. After 24 years, our friendship is now relegated to the ____ world, filtered through Facebook.
Facebook provides a constant flow of information via short updates from everyone a user ____: a distant cousin is glad he skipped the cheeseburger, a colleague has a new book on sale; a close friend is engaged.
Yet for many users, Facebook somehow remains distinctly personal. Although social-networking sites typically encourage connections among ____ where people converge through common interests where the whole point is to greet new faces, Facebook is geared toward helping people ____ existing connections. The site serves as a self-updating address book, keeping users ____ no matter their geographical shifts.
But I can't help wondering. If for some reason Facebook suddenly ____ to exist, would people like Jenny revert to phone calls or visits, or would they lose touch altogether?
I probably won't find out. Instead, I gave in. Last week I sent Jenny a note - through Facebook, naturally - requesting a get-together. She accepted. When we met up, it seemed like we were closer than i had thought. I knew about Jenny's son's part in the school play, her sledding expedition and what she'd cooked for that big birthday dinner - ____ we would have shared if we still lived in the same neighbourhood and talked regularly, the inane and intimate details that add up to life. The constant stream of data is a digital form of closeness.

Education has an immense impact on the human society. One can safely assume that a person is not in the proper sense till he is educated. It trains the human mind to think and take the right decision. In other words, man becomes a rational animal when he is educated.
It is through education that knowledge and information is received and spread throughout the world. An uneducated person cannot read and write and hence he is closed to all the knowledge and wisdom he can gain through books and other mediums. In other words, he is shut off from the outside world. On the contrary, an educated man lives in a room with all its windows open towards outside world.
The content of education still belongs to the past. Education suffers basically from what the report describes as the gap between its contents and living experience of its pupils between the system of values that it preached and the goals set up by society, between its ancient curricula and the modernity of science.
Education means an all round drawing out of the best in child and man-body, ming and spirit. The imperative character of education for individual growth and social development is now accepted by every one. Investment in the education of its youth considered as most vital by all modern nations. Such an investment understandably acquires top priority in developing countries.
The end of all education, all training should be man making. The end and aim of all training is to make the man grow. The training by which the current and expression are brought under control and become fruitful is called education. Education plays a vital role in giving human beings proper equipment to lead a gracious and harmonious life.
Education is a fundamental means to bring any desired change in society, which is an accepted fact throughout the world. This can be attained only if schools become real centres of learning. Education not only helps in the development of personality of the child but also determines his future. Recent psychological research has shown that favourable attitudes towards life develop in the earliest stages of child growth.
Education gives solutions for any type of problems. Through education we promote values and good habits and awareness towards corruption, terrorism and disease. Education helps to continue communication with known and unknown persons through technology and mass media.
Education gives strength to the person. They get knowledge and discriminate which is wrong and which is right with the help of education. Through education we inculcate values in the students and readers.

Hi everybody! While surfing the net, i came across something quite interesting and wanted to share it with you all. Well, less talk. So, let's carry on! =D
Simon has often felt that life has dealt him the short end of the stick. The ____ by his classmates and schoolmates had become a daily affair. It was 9.45 am. The scene was set. The left aisle was occupied by a sea of boys ____ their food. To their right was a group of girls ____ away at their fizzy drinks.
Simon ____ the entire canteen for any possible signs of danger. Convinced that there were none, he ____ into an indistinguishable corner to have his meal. Alas, the eye of the storm did not last. The customary banter that accompanied every recess as suddenly diminished to a deafening hush. The appearance of the notorious and ____ trio of Marcus, Beng Hwee and Chris silenced the crowd.
An occasional _____ could be heard. The trio ____ towards their unwilling victim as Simon cowered in his seat. He could visualize his world _____ before his eyes.
"Ouch!" Marcus exclaimed. Someone had _____ a pebble and it struck the back of his head.
"Who did that?" Marcus _____ a reply to which he got no answer.
The winds of change were rising. The tables were turning. Could this be the prelude to a revolution?

Why does Ice Float on Water?
Ever wondered why ice floats on water? Well, we've got to the bottom of this mystery! Read on to find out...
Question: Why Does Ice Float?
Answer: A substance floats if it is less dense, or has less mass per unit volume, than other components in a mixture. For example, if you toss a handful of rocks into a bucket of water, the rocks, which are dense compared to the water, will sink. The water, which is less dense than the rocks, will float. Basically, the rocks push the water out of the way, or displace it. For an object to be able to float, it has to displace a weight of fluid equal to its own weight.
A water molecule is made from one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms, strongly joined to each other with covalent bonds. Water molecules are also attracted to each other by weaker chemical bonds (hydrogen bonds) between the positively-charged hydrogen atoms and the negatively-charged oxygen atoms of neighboring water molecules. As water cools below 4°C, the hydrogen bonds adjust to hold the negatively charged oxygen atoms apart. This produces a crystal lattice, which is commonly known as 'ice'.

There are two parts to the answer for this question. First, let's take a look at why anything floats. Then, let's examine why ice floats on top of liquid water, instead of sinking to the bottom.

How to choose the best computer
With so many brands, sizes, features and prices, picking out the ideal PC from a sea of choices can be a nightmare. To help you home in to the right buy, here are four buzzwords to look out for.
AMD Radeon 5650
If you're a serious gamer and want to look for a powerful laptop with superior graphics, you have got to remember the name of this graphics card - AMD Radeon 5650. The 5650 is a popular graphics card, but is only beginning to be seen in entry-level gaming laptops that are generally within the $1200 to $1600 price range.
So if you're on a budget and want to run your games in high resolution, or at least have the most demanding games run in smoothly-rendered low resolution, look out for this card. A powerful graphics card also helps improve high-definition video streaming and editing experience and also help to reduce RAM usage when playing games.
There are, of course, better and more superior graphic cards like the Nvidia GeForce GT435M and the Radeon 5730 that you might want to consider. But, keep in mind that laptops having these graphic cards would most probably cost you around $3000 to $5000, depending on the type of RAM, processor speed, etc.
Notebook brands often play up processor clockspeeds to differentiate their products from others, but the one specification that arguably matters more is the graphics card type. As most vendors will fit processors and graphics cards that are of a matching performance level in the same machine, you can be sure that if your machine comes with the 5650, the processor will also be decent.
SSD
Solid State Drive, or SSD, is a flash-based alternative to the Hard Disk Drive, or also called HDD. SSDs are more reliable because they have no mechanical parts and have a much better chance of surviving a drop. SSDs also promise better performance than hard drives, with boot-up speeds as much as three times faster.
SSDs are also more power efficient so laptops can run longer on battery power. However, SSDs cost a lot more than hard disks. A 128GB SSD drive costs about $300. On the other hand, a 750GB laptop hard drive goes for about $150. Do note that given SSD technology is very new and still evolving, the SSDs found in laptops are often inferior to those you can buy off the shelf.
There is also a hybrid SSD/hard disk option which promises better performance than regular hard disk drive but it is still inferior to the pure SSD system.
3D games and movies
To play games and view movies in stereoscopic 3D, you need a 3D capable graphics card, 3D screen, the right software, 3D Blu-ray drive as well as a pair of special glasses to enjoy the eye-popping experience.
Do not have to worry about having to figure out the technical specs. Just look out for the 3D logo and the PC should be able to play games and view movies in 3D. Considering the new Blu-ray and 3D technology, having a laptop with a 3D capable graphics card, 3D screen, the right software, 3D Blu-ray drive as well as a pair of special glasses would be very costly.

Eyefinity is the feature in AMD graphics cards that lets you combine three monitors into a single contiguous display. For gamers, this means that you can now see three times as much as before. The added peripheral vision will be extremely valuable when playing racing and dogfighting games, as well as first-person shooters.
Eyefinity is available on both desktop and laptop PCs running on an AMD Radeon 5000 series card, which is just about any modern PC running on an AMD card. However, you'll need a sufficiently powerful card - we recommend at least a Radeon 5770 card.
